This is a family friendly event that attracts people from all over the
country and even the world. This year we had 585 attendees, just shy of last year's
record of 610 people. Surveys collected during the tirst 2 hours of the event and
were entered into a door prize. Results from the survey as well as other fun facts are
included in the attachments.
Our annual Roslyn Cemetery Clean Up event held in ea.ly May saw an increase in
participation in comparison lo 2022. This year we had 128 volunteers during the
evenl, 9% from oul of Kittitas County, and 53% didn't have lamily members buried in
the Roslyn Cemetery
The Kiosk Structure we built at what is the main entrance to the Roslyn Cemetery
houses an interaciive digital kiosk showing the names of the people inlerred in the
27 different cemeteries throughout the Roslyn Cemetery complex. This year we
added a visitor log.
Our Heritage Club meetings held during lhe past year had an average of 41
attendees, 17Yo were not members, and the average nunrber of aitendees from out
of county was 17o/o. Aur guest speakers included a wide range of topics and
speakers. lf the speaker was amenable, we shared the video of their presentation on
YouTube. Our April guest speaker, Gordon Jones presented the history of the No. 7
Mine in Cle Elum and shared an update on the curent housing development going
on in that area. That YouTube video has 411 views so far.
We collaborated with the local Sons & Daughters of ltaly (OSDIA) to bring back a
Bocce Tournament, an event formerly part of Cle Elum's Pioneer Day celebration.
The large number of ltalians that immigrated to our area brough the game of Bocce
with them but over the years it became popular throughout the comnrunity. The
event was very successful, especially for the first year. The survey results are
included as an atlachment.
Our Cultural Night event associated with Roslyn's Community Coal Miners' Days
was also brought back after a 4-year hiatus. We chose to celebrate our living coal
miners. Our area's coal mines closed in 1963 so the miners thai are slill alive are
few. We recognized 14 former miners with a dinner al Ronald's Hawthorne Hall.
Attendance exceeded our expectations. The survey results are included as an
attachment.
2500 ch6racter linit
