BOARD OF COUNTY CONMSSIONERS <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: 4/09/2024 <br />TOPIC: Cleaning for Sheriff's offices <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request Board approval to move forward with hiring cleaning service for the Sheriff's <br />office. <br />LEAD STAFF <br />Patti Stacey, Facilities Director. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Recommend boards approval to move forward with hiring a cleaning service for the Sheriff's office. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Sheriff's Office historically has had inmate workers clean their building. Since covid the ability to have <br />inmate works has been eliminated which has resulted in an additional building that needs to be covered for <br />cleaning. <br />The Sheriff's office has contacted cleaning companies and received two quotes for cleaning services. <br />The cleaning quotes vary from $400 per week to $800 per week for 8 hours of cleaning. <br />To take on an additional 8 hours of service a week Maintenance would need to add a part time staff person. In <br />working with HR a 20 hour per week person would cost the county $961 per week with benefits, since we feel <br />we would not be able to fill a position for 8 hours a week. In addition, this position was not part of the 2024 <br />budget for Maintenance. <br />FISCAL IMPACTS <br />Either hiring a service or hiring a PT employee would require a budget amendment as this was not a budgeted <br />item for the maintenance department. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Copies of quotes. <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />
