BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. ;Zt-!/-(, {'£..< <br />KITTITAS COUNTY GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSION REDUCTION POLICY <br />WHEREAS: State, regional, and local governments throughout the United <br />States are adopting energy conservation programs and policies; <br />and <br />WHEREAS: It is hoped that local governments throughout the nation, both smal <br />and large, can reduce the need for imported oil through the <br />implementation of programs and policies that promote reduced <br />energy bills, green space preservation, air quality improvements, <br />reduced traffic congestion, improved transportation choices, and <br />green house gas emission reduction policies, among other policies; <br />and <br />WHEREAS: As a part of overall policy considerations, policies addressing green <br />house emissions are deemed necessary and the State of <br />Washington Department of Commerce requires that the County <br />adopt Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Policy prior to approval <br />of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program <br />contracts and Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) grant <br />applications; and <br />WHEREAS: The policies attached hereto as Exhibit "A" satisfy the Washington <br />State Department of Commerce's requirements for Greenhouse <br />Gas Emission Reduction policies that benefit Kittitas County's <br />natural resources and reduce air pollutants, energy consumption, <br />and traffic congestion. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Board of County Commissioners, <br />after due consideration, declares it be in the best interest of the public to adopt <br />Exhibit "A" as Kittitas County's policies for the reduction of greenhouse gas <br />emissions. <br />DATED this 3�Ceil day of tt- 2011, at Ellensburg, Washington. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />CQ.UNTY, WASHINGTON <br />
