performance. It is common for staff to request additional information following cursory <br />review of submitted materials. It is not so common for staff to use SMARTGOV to <br />pause the clock while awaiting an applicant response. Management can do a better job <br />imparting value to using the software to stop the clock owing to poor applicant response <br />times. <br />Management has also verified the ability to query permit status for the three permit types <br />(land use, civil, and building). Providing this is done on a quarterly basis for a one-year <br />period, a permit frequently exceeding the statutory timeline will become known. <br />Management can then approach the Board of County Commissioners with a request to <br />amend the regulatory timeline based on the data derived from the permitting system.
