Classroom instruction. school presentations and participation in <br />community events, Dealer and Rental site visits, and effective use of media are crucial to <br />preventing boating accidents and fatalities, Agencies are not required to engage in all education <br />and outreach activities described below but should pursue a mix of tactics appropriate for their <br />area of operation. <br />Educatlon and Outreach Tactics and Suoqested Goals <br />Education Classes: Classroom instruction of the Adventures in Boating course sanctioned by <br />Washington State Parks that qualifies passing students to obtain a Mandatory Boater Education <br />Card. <br />. Small= 15 students, 1 Class. Medium = 20 students, L Class <br />. Large = 50 students, 1 Class <br />a Boating Safety Presentatlons to Groups: Presentations to various groups such as yacht clubs, <br />kayak clubs, anglers, and any groups that use boats on the water. <br />r Small- 10 hours <br />. Medium = 15 hours <br />r Large = 25 hours <br />a Boatlng Safety Presentatlons to Schools: Presentations to local public and or private schools K- <br />12, and colleges / universities. <br />. Small= 10 hours, Medium = 15 hours <br />I Large = 25 hours <br />a Vessel Rental Site Visits: Visits to localvessel rental sites intended to ensure employees and <br />renters are following guidance on the Motor Vessel Rental Safety Checklist. These can also be <br />site visits to businesses that rent out kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, or other small non- <br />motorized craft. The intent of visits in this case is to emphasize basic safety behavlors such as <br />encouraging renters to always wear a life jacket and encouraging boating in low hazard areas. <br />.
