Proposed Levy
8. The County has identified a $31 million funding gap and is proposing a levy lift to
address needed maintenance of roads and bridges, not funding for improvement or
restoration projects. What is your reaction to that?
9. A levy lift for improvement and restoration would be substantially bigger. The County
feels that a "maintain what we have" approach strikes a balance and is more likely to be
supported. (Your initial reaction?Any thoughts?)
10. What do you see as the biggest challenges/barriers to this levy?Any challenges
associated with its timing (November 2024)?
11. Who do you see as likely supporters and opponents?
Communication/Messaging
12. What information will be of the greatest interest to youtyour organization about the road
levy?
13. If you were responsible for communicating the benefits of this levy, what do you think
would resonate the most with voters? (i e , specific maintenance "projects", economy,
safety, access to recreation, issues relaters to 1-90 etc.)
14. What is the best way to get information to you and your organization and more broadly
to voters?
Final Advice
15. Are there any other people or organizations you would recommend we contact to get
their views on the proposed road levy?
16. Can you offer a single most important piece of advice for Kittitas County as it considers
putting the road levy on the November 2024 ballot?
17. Any further comments or suggestions?
Kittitas County Road Levy Research I Stakeholder Interview Draft Summary 8
March 2024
