Cook <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Sign the resolution authorizing grant submittal for the United States Department of <br />Agriculture (USDA) Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG) naming the Kittitas <br />County Chamber of Commerce (KCCC) as grant subrecipient. <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />• USDA is offering a RBDG grant that will result in a rating for the county's ability <br />to serve the biomass industry. <br />• Once authorized, the KCCC will engage the services of a grant writer to complete <br />the application and submit on behalf of the county. <br />• Public Works (PW) will provide support services to KCCC as appropriate. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />KCCC desires submitting a USDA RBDG to position the county for possible future <br />business opportunities utilizing biomass products. The grant is due February 28, 2024. <br />Background on the biomass rating effort is attached as EXHIBIT 2. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Time is of the essence for submitting the USDA RBDG.
