portion of this project being sponsored by the Brian Abbot Fish Barrier Removal Board, construction began
in Sep 2020 and concluded in Oct 2020.
A new structure installed in Coleman Creek at Fairview Road #89146 (OB), replaced #89141 (OB), #89142
(OB) and #89144 (OB). The project removed three existing box culverts and replaced them with a single
18ft precast box culvert. The structure, creek realignment and road widening were all completed in 2020.
The driving surface will be .20 foot of HMA planned by County forces in 2021.
Big Boulder Creek #34350 is a 60 foot prefabricated modular steel bridge that replaced a structure FLTPS1
on Forest Service Road 4330 that was load restricted and had a compromised foundation. In 2019 Kittitas
County Public Works placed a temporary 40 foot bridge to bypass the structurally compromised structure,
and returned in 2020 to install the permanent 60 foot bridge, and retrieve the temporary 40 foot bridge.
2019
An old culvert on Teanaway Road #06051-OB spanning Story Creek was replaced with a new four sided
19' box culvert, #06052-OB. Work was completed in October of 2019.
Manastash Road Bridge #76131 replacement was completed in the spring of 2019, with Bridge #76132.
The 70 foot bridge deck is covered with a waterproof membrane The deck and approach slabs are covered
with 0.25' of HMA.
No. 6 Rd #79051-ob replacement was completed in the spring of 2019. The new structure #79052 consists
of 15" deep precast concrete slab units. The driving surface is a 3" reinforced concrete deck 32' wide.
2018
University Way Road Bridge #88341 over BNRR was repaired by a contractor, Belsaas and Smith. The work
consisted of construction of approach slabs, concrete substructure repairs, minor drainage modifications,
and other work. This work was completed during the summer of 2018.
2017
Bar 14 #89041 was reduced to single lane traffic after spring flooding caused debris buildup at the bridge.
After consultants inspected the bridge it was found to be functionally obsolete from a hydraulic
standpoint. The bridge was then removed in October.
Durr Rd #68161 removed from our inventory after research of ownership confirmed that it belongs to
WDFW.
Naneum Road Bridge over Highline Canal #89091 had a crushing center timber cap and scour under the
south footing discovered during 2016 inspection. Repairs performed by WSDOT Bridge Crew, replaced
center timber bent, placed grout to support undermined south footing, installed riprap in front of footing
repair to prevent future scour.
North Fork Teanaway Road over Teanaway River #16203 had the entire south bridge railing broken off at
the anchor points. Temporary concrete barriers were placed and the bridge was reduced to one lane until
repairs could be completed. Repairs were completed in November of 2017. The road has been restored
to two lanes.
2016
Kittitas County 2023 Annual Bridge Report
