BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF HITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2024 - <br />ESTABLISHMENT OF A SPEED ZONE AND THE PLACEMENT OF SPEED <br />LIMIT SIGNS ON HITTITAS HIGHWAY AND AMENDING SECTION 10.08.020 <br />SPEED LIMITS OF THE HITTITAS COUNTY CODE <br />WHEREAS: The Department of Public Works conducted a speed study of Kittitas <br />Highway (Mile Post 1.03 to Mile Post 2.36); and <br />WHEREAS: The Board of Kittitas County Commissioners did hold a public hearing on <br />Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 2:00 pm to hear public testimony regarding <br />the establishment of a 35 mile -per -hour (MPH) speed zone and placement <br />of speed limit signs on the above listed road; and <br />WHEREAS: The Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners have determined <br />that 35 MPH speed limit is appropriate speed limit for Kittitas Highway <br />from Ellensburg City Limits to No. 6 Road (Mile Post 1.03 to Mile Post <br />2.36). <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED that the Kittitas County Board of County <br />Commissioners, after due deliberation and in the best interest of the <br />public, does hereby establish a 35 MPH speed limit on Kittitas Highway at <br />Mile Post 1.03 to Mile Post 2.36 and authorizes the placement of speed <br />limit signs at the above stated locations and amends Kittitas County Code <br />Section 10.08.020 as indicated in Exhibit A. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this ordinance will become effective upon the <br />installation of the appropriate signage. <br />ADOPTED this 6a` day of February 2024, at Ellensburg, Washington. <br />Attest: <br />❑ Clerk of the Board- Julie Kjorsvik <br />❑ Deputy Clerk of the Board- Mandy Buchholz <br />BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS <br />HITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />Brett Wachsmith, Chairman <br />Laura Osiadacz, Vice -Chairman <br />Cory Wright, Commissioner <br />
