10/23/2023 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />BOCC CONF. ROOM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />MONDAY 11:00 A.M. October 23, 2023 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith; Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Doug Fessler, IT Director; Zane Kinney, Assistant IT <br />Director; Grant Shimada, IT Administrative Assistant. <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING IT STUDY SESSION COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 11:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened the Information Technology Study <br />Session. <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> <br />No Citizen Comments. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION HARDWARE UPDATE IT <br /> <br />Mr. Fessler began the meeting by discussing his plans for delivering <br />technology hardware stats regularly at study sessions and informed the <br />Commissioners that he will need an executive session for some topics. <br />Mr. Fessler also stated that the county is running low on storage space <br />and that he has had discussions with the Budget & Finance Director, <br />Brian Carlson, who has recommended moving forward with procuring large <br />disk storage hardware. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN <br /> <br />Mr. Fessler discussed the need for a disaster recovery plan and further <br />discussed strategizing efforts for storing backup copies of the <br />county’s data in storage units that will be placed in upper district <br />court. Currently the IT department is looking for storage options that <br />are cost-effective while also being watchful for premium solutions. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION IT COMMITTEE <br /> <br />Mr. Fessler reiterated the idea of recreating the IT Committee and <br />explained that the advice from risk, finance, legal, and various other <br />experts would be very helpful to the IT department’s future endeavors. <br />The IT directors are currently scheduled to meet with Deputy <br />Prosecutor, Jesse Eldred, for legal counseling about this idea. <br /> <br /> <br />
