KITTITAS COUNTY <br />EC STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG <br />Special Meeting <br />MONDAY 10:00 AM December 11, 2023 <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright, Vice -Chairman Brett Wachsmith, <br />Commissioner Laura Osiadacz <br />Others: Kady Porterfield (Event Center Director), and approximately 35 members of the public. <br />1. Call to Order: 10:03am by Chairman Wright after a venue change to the BOCC <br />Auditorium to accommodate citizens in attendance. <br />2. Citizen Comments (1 min. time limit): The following citizens stated they were residents <br />of Kittitas County and made comments on concerns around actions involving the City and <br />Craig's Hill, Reed Park, and the American Legion: Jeff Whitman, Penny Whitman, Angela <br />Lang, Cheryl Chance, Nicole Paxton, Bryan Ray, Bob Kibbler, Lynn McCowin, Lauren <br />Harper, Erica Sanford, Josh Whister, Rhonda Griffin, and Judie Craig. <br />Documents shared from citizens during the comments were submitted into the record. <br />Comments ended at 10:20am. <br />3. Request to Approve Resolution for Declaration of Emergency — Event Hall Fire <br />Sprinkler System: Kady requested approval of Resolution 2023-220 Declaration of <br />Emergency - Event Hall Fire Sprinkler System to address an upcoming facility failure before <br />it is too late. Vice -Chairman Wachsmith moved to approve the resolution and Commissioner <br />Osiadacz seconded the motion. Motion passed. <br />4.2024 KVEC Rate Changes Discussion: A request for a public hearing is coming to the <br />BOCC on December 191h with a public hearing on January 2"d to review and approve the rate <br />changes for KVEC facilities in 2024. Changes include a 3-5% increase on indoor venues, <br />new package options, post -event cleaning fees, and the addition of the Annex that was built <br />along Bloom this year. <br />5. Self -Promoted Events Business: <br />Patriot Night Under the Lights — Artists for the headline show and the After Party have <br />been secured and contracts will be coming forward in the next study session. <br />6. Sponsorship Updates: Kady received the Fair Sponsorship report last Friday from the <br />Friends of the Fair and said there are some corrections to come as the Friends of the Fair <br />2023-12-11 MINUTES <br />
