2023 Docket Enabling Ordinance December 19, 2023 <br />Page 107 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />12.04.06.030 Existing Bridges and Drainage Structures. <br />Prior to any land division approval and as directed by the County Engineer, an inspection of <br />existing bridges and drainage structures within the boundaries of the development shall be <br />conducted by a professional civil engineer, licensed in the State of Washington, knowledgeable <br />of bridge design and construction. The inspection shall include an assessment of the existing <br />bridges and drainage structures with regard to the requirements set forth in these standards for <br />load function, superstructure, and abutments. <br />Existing bridges and drainage structures within the boundaries of the development that do not <br />meet the standards of this section shall be replaced with new bridges and drainage structures or <br />the existing bridges and drainage structures shall be modified as necessary. <br />Should the development review process identify off-site locations where the existing roads must <br />be widened or realigned as a condition of development approval, all affected bridges and <br />drainage structures shall be evaluated in the same manner as for those within the boundaries of <br />the development. All necessary widenings, extensions or replacements necessary to <br />accommodate the new roadway width or alignment shall meet applicable structural and <br />hydraulic design standards. <br />12.04.06.040 Bridge and Major Drainage Structure Design Standards. <br />The following shall apply to the design of all bridges and major drainage structures, public and <br />private, in Kittitas County: <br />A. Except where these Standards provide otherwise, design detail, construction materials, <br />and workmanship for all bridges and major drainage structures serving public or private <br />roads and driveways in Kittitas County shall be in accordance with the applicable, most <br />current, and as amended editions of the following publications: <br />1. AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges <br />2. AASHTO Guide for Selecting, Locating, and Designing Traffic Barriers <br />3. WSDOT Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge, and Municipal Construction <br />4. WSDOT Standard Plans <br />5. WSDOT Design Manual <br />6. WSDOT Bridge Design Manual
