6- Sustainability: Describe your ability, experience, and resources to implement and
sustain the project during the term of the project. (250 words max.)
HopeSource's YHDP contract renews annually and will remain available if match funds are
secured.
HopeSource's executive management team and Board of Directors are constantly developing
plans to build reliable funding sources to support housing programs, augmented by braided
contract funding available through federal, state, and local grants, strengthening fundraising
capacity through sustainable relationships with local corporations and small businesses, and
special events. Through a robust fundraising plan combined with a community culture of
philanthropy, Hopesource will sustain, expand, and scale its programs to serve the
community effectively and for the long term.
HopeSource pays attention to every opportunity to decrease costs so that funding goes
directly to serving vulnerable households. HopeSource financial controls include adherence to
Fiscal Policies supported by OMB Circular requirements and accounting practices.
HopeSource is audited annually by an external accounting agency and has received 14
consecutive clean audits. HopeSource has effectively managed and accounted for more than j.20
contracts for funding from federal, state, county, and municipal entities, private foundations, and
donations for over 50 years. HopeSource has successfully operated grants from the Veteran's
Administration, the Washington State Department of Commerce, the Washington State Department
of Transportation, and County homeless and affordable housing, including emergency services,
emergency shelters, new affordable housing projects, and tax credit rehabilitation housing projects.
10
