Recently, the design team travelled to Ellensburg presenting design and modeling results <br />to the WRD, natural resource entities, and neighboring landowners. The innovative <br />design significantly improves flood protection to county residents downstream of Hanson <br />Pits. The design also improves floodplain function and creates new riparian habitat along <br />the left bank of the Yakima River between Hanson Pits and Ringer Loop. <br />PW desires to formally acknowledge the design team to BoR regional management staff. <br />PW proposes creating acknowledgment by resolution with a letter signed by the BoCC <br />for possible inclusion into the teams BoR personnel files. <br />FISCAL IMPACTS: <br />Administrative costs contained in the 2023 Flood Control Zone operational budget. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />None. <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />Public Works "Work Session Staff Report", 2023 <br />
