KITTITAS COUNTY <br />PUBLIC WORKS STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />COMMISSIONERS' AUDITORIUM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 109 <br />Regular Meeting <br />MONDAY 1.30 PM October 23, 2023 <br />Board mer.rbers present: Chairman Cory Wright, Vice Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith, and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br />Others: Mark Cook, Arden Thomas, Rebecca Cruse, Public Works; Jessica <br />Miller, Community Development Services; Stephanie Hartung, <br />Prosec•aing Attorney's Office; 1 member of the public. <br />At 1:30 PM Chairman Cory Wright opened the Public Works Study <br />Session. <br />No Citizen Comments. <br />REQUEST TO APPROVE A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE CHAIR SIGNATURE ON A <br />REGIONAL FISHERIES ENHANCEMENT GROUP FEDERAL FUNDING LETTER OF <br />SUPPORT <br />Arden Thomas briefed the Board of County Commissioners on the value <br />Mid -Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group is to the County and <br />assistance they provide to complete mutual goals. Arden Thomas <br />requested the Boards support on Resolution 2023-181 a letter of <br />support for federal funding. Vice -Chairman Brett Wachsmith motioned <br />to approve Resolution 2023-181 and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz <br />seconded the motion. <br />MERCER CREEK: MID-COLUMBIA FISHERIES MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT AND <br />ECOLOGY FUNDING AGREEMENT <br />Arden Thomas briefed the Board of County Commissioners on the <br />collaborative work that has been done on Mercer Creek in the City of <br />Ellensburg and the on -going maintenance that is needed for flood <br />reduction. Arden Thomas requested the Boards support to partner with <br />Mid -Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group to secure funding through <br />the Washington Department of Ecology. Direction to staff to bring <br />forward enabling documents for consideration. <br />BROWNFIELD GRANT OPPORTUNITIES <br />Mark Cook briefed the Board of County Commissioners on available <br />grant funding to identify hazards and the possibility of clean-up of <br />sites and stated that staff currently don't have the capacity to <br />administer. Chairman. Cory Wright stated that regional planning needs <br />to come to fruition to form a work program and begin handling some of <br />these issues. <br />2023-10-23 MINUTES <br />
