Candie Leader
From:
s <ramschpost@gmaii.com>
Sent:
Tuesday, August 22, 2023 11:17 AM
To:
Kittitas County Public Works
Subject:
No. 81 Road north of Vantage
Attachments:
81 Rd - Vantage to Snodgrass.pdf
CAUTION: This email originated from outside the Kittitas County network. Do not click links, open attachments,
fulfill requests, or follow guidance unless you recognize the sender and have verified the content is safe.
The attached .pdf file is marked to show the area of interest.
The question is whether a reduction in the speed limit on the road from 50 to 35 mph is warranted between Vantage
Hwy. and the lane to 2451.
There seems to be high traffic usage of the road and at considerable speed. Sight lines on the west side of the
road (and on the north side of Vantage east of No. 81 Road) are often obscured to all but high clearance vehicles
attempting to enter. (Less in this year's drought than last year.)
There also seems to be a lot of traffic entering No. 81 rd. from the two drives of the subdivision.
I think it would be useful to measure traffic in two locations (approximate) as marked on the attachment. Both speed
and vehicle count at both locations would best inform decision making, but if not feasible, then the priority would be for
vehicle count at the more southerly point and the speed measurement at the point farther north.
Please advise.
Al Sharp
