Research a nd Discovery: Visitor Surveys <br />Visitor Surveys <br />An online visitor survey was emailed to approximately 6,800 people who had attended an Ellensburg <br />event or received a tourism e-newsletter from the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce. Of these, 521 <br />people responded. lt is important to note that the email list was weighted toward event ticket holders(77%l'll also included Ellensburg residents. The answers of Ellensbuig resident were suppressed in <br />reporting results. The event-attendee responses were compared to non-event visitors and little <br />distinction was found between the responses. <br />Learnings <br />The survey provides a window into who visits Ellensburg for what reasons, and how they perceive the <br />town and its surroundings. This provides guidance into target audience profiles and messaging for the <br />tourism plan. <br />Who visits Ellensburg? <br />. 45-65+ years old. Based on the survey responses, the Age <br />most likely visitor is well-settled in their career, families <br />and life. <br />r Western Washington residents. More than 57 percent <br />of respondents were from Western Washington - Z9 <br />percent came from King County alone. <br />r Upper Middle Class. More than 50 percent of <br />respondents said their household incomes were <br />$1OO,OOO or more. Western Washington respondents <br />reported more people in the $L50,000+ category than <br />other groups.
