AUGUST 28, 2023

Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett
Wachsmith; Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.

Others: Doug Fessler, IT Director; Zane Kinney, Assistant IT
Director; Bryan Elliott, Auditor; Brian Carlson, Budget and Finance
Director; Grant Shimada, IT Administrative Assistant; Chelsey
Pedersen, Application Developer; Stephanie Hartung, Deputy
Prosecuting Attorney; Joshua Fredrickson, County Engineer.

REGULAR MEETING IT STUDY SESSION COMMISSIONERS

At 11:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened the Information Technology
Study Session.

CITIZEN COMMENTS

There were no citizen comments.

DISCUSSION PROPOSED PW & CDS MERGER IT

Mr. Kinney informed the Board how the merger of the Public Works and
Community Development Services departments would impact IT’s
resources and workload. Given the complex nature of the county’s
intranet site and other systems, a merger of the two departments
will require numerous technical changes at varying levels of
resource intensity.

Chairman Wright noted that the goal of the merger is to create
efficiencies and to provide citizens with a centralized way of
accessing services.

Mr. Fredrickson asked about the challenges involved with the merger
and indicated that Public Works would offer whatever support they
can. He asked to prioritize the county code changes.

Mr. Fessler confirmed that IT has prioritized identifying all the
places where Public Works and Community Development Services are
mentioned throughout the county code.

Chairman Wright stated the need to set up an executive session with
Public Works/CDS Director Mark Cook, Mrs. Hartung, Mr. Fessler, and
a few others to develop a work plan for accomplishing the merger.
