AUGUST 28, 2023 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith; Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Doug Fessler, IT Director; Zane Kinney, Assistant IT <br />Director; Bryan Elliott, Auditor; Brian Carlson, Budget and Finance <br />Director; Grant Shimada, IT Administrative Assistant; Chelsey <br />Pedersen, Application Developer; Stephanie Hartung, Deputy <br />Prosecuting Attorney; Joshua Fredrickson, County Engineer. <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING IT STUDY SESSION COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 11:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened the Information Technology <br />Study Session. <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> <br />There were no citizen comments. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION PROPOSED PW & CDS MERGER IT <br /> <br />Mr. Kinney informed the Board how the merger of the Public Works and <br />Community Development Services departments would impact IT’s <br />resources and workload. Given the complex nature of the county’s <br />intranet site and other systems, a merger of the two departments <br />will require numerous technical changes at varying levels of <br />resource intensity. <br /> <br />Chairman Wright noted that the goal of the merger is to create <br />efficiencies and to provide citizens with a centralized way of <br />accessing services. <br /> <br />Mr. Fredrickson asked about the challenges involved with the merger <br />and indicated that Public Works would offer whatever support they <br />can. He asked to prioritize the county code changes. <br /> <br />Mr. Fessler confirmed that IT has prioritized identifying all the <br />places where Public Works and Community Development Services are <br />mentioned throughout the county code. <br /> <br />Chairman Wright stated the need to set up an executive session with <br />Public Works/CDS Director Mark Cook, Mrs. Hartung, Mr. Fessler, and <br />a few others to develop a work plan for accomplishing the merger. <br />
