Renovating and utilizing the current facility for more limited purposes and
transferring some current or planned expansion uses to a new site
The alternatives assessment will consider both current and future uses of the fire station.
Criteria used to evaluate the alternatives will include: each alternative's compliance with
Kittitas County Code 14.08 Flood Damage Prevention (this will be a prerequisite for an
alternative being deemed feasible), the alternative's success in providing emergency
services meeting the Fire District's goals and objectives both during and apart from flood
emergencies, the ability of the alternative to meet long-term emergency services needs, and
cost effectiveness.
After the alternatives assessment has been completed, staff from Kittitas County, Fire
District No. 7, Ecology, and FEMA Region X will meet to discuss the results, with the goal
of developing a consensus recommendation to advance to the Board of County
Commissioners. The milestones and timeline for the phase 2 implementation activities will
be confirmed at this time.
The second phase of the compliance plan includes necessary implementation actions to
gain compliance.
