ELI.ENSB[!Rfr
May 3!,2023
Kittitas County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee
Kittitas County Cou rthouse
Commissioners Office 205
W 5th Ave Suite l-08
Ellensburg, WA 98926
Dear Committee Members,
Forthe better part of the last 25 years, the Unity Park site has been home for Jazz in the Valley,
now known as the Ellensburg Music Fest (EMF), which is an annual music event drawing
thousands of visitors to Kittitas County to enjoy three days of music, sun, and our beautiful
downtown.
Hearing that the City is applying for funding through the 'Tourism-Related, Small Scale
Municipality-Owned' project program has the EMF Board of Directors very excited. Each year
we run into challenges providing something as simple as shade for our performers, which is
especially important given the fact that our event takes place the last weekend of July, which is
arguably the hottest time of year in Ellensburg. The addition of a shade tents at Unity Park will
benefit both the performers and attendees and will undoubtedly have a significant impact on
our ability to provide top talent and entertainment year in and year out for our community.
We hope that the Committee will look favorably on this project and award funding. Please feel
free to contact with me any additional questions.
Sincerely,
/s/
Tony Swartz
President/Director
Ellensburg Music Festival
