BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION <br />No.: 2023 - O+3 <br />ADOPTING THE KITTITAS COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County, in conjunction and discussion with the Kittitas County <br />Conference of Governments, partnered with the City of Ellensburg to hire <br />a consultant, TIP Strategies, to develop a joint economic development <br />strategic plan with implementation actions to guide economic <br />development efforts in the region; and <br />WHEREAS: The consultant used a three-phase planning model (discovery, opportunity, <br />and implementation) to develop the plan. The discovery phase is designed <br />to emphasize the process of learning what makes the community unique. <br />The opportunity phase ensures a focus on the big idea (or ideas) that will <br />contribute to the community's economic vitality and garner widespread <br />support for the planning process. The implementation phase focuses on the <br />desired outcome and the steps needed to translate ideas into action; and <br />WHEREAS The Kittitas county Economic Development Strategic plan is intended to <br />be a five-year plan to guide actions and investments and be revisited on a <br />regular basis to take advantage of market conditions and opportunities; <br />and <br />WHEREAS: The Strategic Action Plan is a key component of the Kittitas County <br />Economic Development Strategic Plan, and executing the wide range of <br />actions needed to positively impact the community's economic vitality <br />requires extensive collaboration and cohesion among local stakeholders in <br />the coming years. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: the Board of County Commissioners hereby <br />adopts the Kittitas County Economic Development Strategic Plan, attached hereto, and <br />commits to working collaboratively across the region to collectively foster a more vibrant <br />and resilient economy for our county's citizens and businesses.
