9129t22,10:40 AM LTAC Clerk Review
Future Plans*As WSSSM does not charge admission or a fee for events, our ability to earn
revenue outside of fundraising or grants is limited to the gift shop sales. WSSSM
has a small operating budget, and it was determined that we could sustain our
budget and growth without applying for multiple grants.
From 2015-2020, WSSSM's annual advertising budget was very limited and was
comprised mostly of freeway exit signage, large museum logo signage on route
906, and other flag signage stationed directly in front of the museum. We invested
in aprofessional booth to take to events (Warren Miller, Ski Bonkers, others) and in
giveaways for visitors including pens, stickers, notecards, gift tags, and more. We
also spent time (but not a lot of money) revamping our website and expanding
WSSSM social media presence. We would use flyers, email e-blasts and mailed
postcards (to our own list) to promote our events. We also relied heavily on our
partners and social media to promote the museum and our events.
ln 2021 and 2022, with the help of Lodging Tax Funds, we were able to add
targeted paid print and online advertising to the mix and saw great success in
visitor numbers going back to pre-pandemic levels in the summer of 2021 as a
result. With increased visitor in 2022 and a major revamp of our gift shop, retails
sales more than doubled in 2022 to our highest level ever.
ln 2023, we will promote our new Snowboarding Exhibit and events and content
expanding this topic. General marketing programs help to sustain visitors to the
museum which sustain our revenue stream. The majority of our revenue comes
from fundraising. We do not apply for many grants outside of lodging tax funds.
Sustained advertising is crucial toward helping the museum to have sustained
weekend traffic and special events which help make Snoqualmie Pass a place to
stay for the weekend and not just a day trip thereby increasing lodging overnight
stays. WSSSM is one of the few cultural/historical activities on Snoqualmie Pass
for visitors.
Advertising = more awareness of the museum and our events = more visitors =
more supporters = more sales, etc.
The Lodging Tax funds are crucial part of our tourism marketing strategy for this
young non-profit facility.
2500 character limit
Application Questions: Part 4
6l Additional lnformation
Provide any additional information which will assist the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee in evaluating your
project and its benefit to tourism.
lf-app-16-03.co.kittitas.wa.us/Forms/form/submission/history/77659/85470?hideHeader=true 1'U19
