KITTITAS COUNTY
AIRPORT DEPARTMENT

STUDY SESSION DATE: April 4th, 2023

TOPIC: Request Public Hearing for T Hangar lease

ACTION REQUESTED: Request a Public Hearing for the Board to consider
approval of a new T Hangar lease.

LEAD STAFF:
David D. Ohl

RECOMMENDATION:
Approve a public hearing to consider a new T Hangar lease

BRIEFING SUMMARY:
- The Airport Director is requesting a public hearing to consider approval of a new
County T Hangar lease.
- The current T Hangar lease is a 12 month lease; the new version will revert back
to a month to month version
- A public hearing to approve a new lease will allow the board to consider and
approve the new version for the current tenants whose leases have expired.

BACKGROUND:
The current lease, set at 1 year in length was approved by the BoCC as part of Resolution
2022-043. The new version of the T Hangar lease will need to be reviewed and approved
to form by the BoCC to eliminate the previous version. This lease was developed by the
airport director and the prosecutor’s office. Currently, all the T Hangar residents’
previous lease has expired, so this will allow the airport director to execute new leases to
meet tenant requirements.

DISCUSSION:
Currently the existing approved T Hangar lease is set at a length of 1 year. This was
approved by the BoCC as part of Resolution 2022-043 making all T Hangar leases to a 1-
year length. This was done by the previous airport management to cut down on
administrative work. However, it drives more work for the airport staff.

Through some research and reaching out to other airports, it was found that the standard
for T Hangar leases in the State of Washington is to be month to month. By approving a
new lease, that goes back to month to month instead of annually, this will put Bower’s
Field in line with standard ops from other airports in the state.
