9t29122, 10:40 AM <br />Response 1: <br />ProjecUEvent <br />Description * <br />LTAC Clerk Review <br />This is the third year that the Washington State Ski & Snowboard Museum <br />(WSSSM) (www.wsssm.org) will be applying for a Kittitas County Lodging Tax <br />Grant. The museum opened in 2015 and is in Upper Kittitas County, just prior to <br />the border of King County on Snoqualmie Pass. WSSSM is located at the modern <br />Pass Life development next to the Summit ski area, ideally situated in between <br />two popular venues: Commonwealth restaurant and Dru Bru brewery. WSSSM is <br />open year-round, Friday-Sunday. Admission is FREE. <br />WSSSM Board of Directors: <br />. Dave Moffett, Founder & President, former Owner of The Summit at Snoqualmie <br />. Kirby Gilbert, Vice President & Ski Historian <br />. Leeds Chamberlain, Secretary, Museologist, specialist in teaching women to ski <br />. Deb Armstrong, Ski lnstructor & Coach and Olympic Gold Medal Winner <br />. John Forsen, Video/Movie Producer & Director, and life-long skier <br />. Christie King, WSSSM volunteer & marketing expert <br />. Guy Lawrence, General Manager, The Summit at Snoqualmie <br />. John W Lundin, Ski Historian, and author of "Early Skiing on Snoqualmie Pass" <br />and "Ski Jumping in Washington State". <br />. Lowell Skoog, Ski Mountaineering Expert and author of "Written in the Snows" <br />. John Sutherland, WSSSM volunteer & ski and resort industry veteran <br />. Hu and Dollie Armstrong, Co-Founders & Emeritus Board Members <br />As a non-profit, WSSSM has developed broad and consistent support from over <br />350 individual and corporate donors across the state, including The Summit at <br />Snoqualmie, Northwest Winter Sports Foundation, Ski Washington, M, Mervin, <br />and more. <br />WSSSM is a storytelling, digital hands-on museum with 11 permanent exhibits. ln <br />2022,hhe museum launched a new Snowboarding Exhibit and original film! Our <br />most popular exhibit is on our State's Olympians. Each exhibit includes video <br />components. The museum is staffed by one paid employee who manages our <br />operations and volunteers. <br />WSSSM is a community space. Our volunteer hosts are tourism promotion <br />partners for the county as they provide guided information for our visitors. <br />lf awarded, WSSSM would use the Lodging Tax funds to support these primary <br />areas in 2023: <br />1 . General Museu m Marketi n g Awareness/Marketi n g/Tou rismA/isit Us Campaig n <br />2. New Snowboarding Exhibit Events around this new major exhibit <br />3. ln person events in 2023: WSSSM will collaborate with other local businesses <br />and organizations to promote historical and arts tourism.
