PRESS RELEASE <br />Date: February 13, 2023 <br />Contact: Samantha Cox, Water Resources Specialist, 509-962-7523 <br />Streamside Landowners Invited to February 23' Workshop <br />The Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board, City of Ellensburg, and Kittitas County <br />Flood Control Zone District invite streamside landowners and area residents with flooding <br />concerns to a workshop to be held from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on February 23`d at the Hal Holmes <br />Center at 209 N. Ruby Street in Ellensburg. <br />Staff from the City of Ellensburg, the Kittitas County Flood Control Zone District, the <br />Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Kittitas County Conservation District, and <br />Mid -Columbia Fisheries will be on hand to answer questions and connect people to resources <br />about streamside stewardship and flood risk concerns. Doors will open at 5:00 with staff <br />available to meet with residents about their individual concerns. At 5:30, there will be a <br />facilitated panel discussion. For the remainder of the time staff will remain on hand to continue <br />to meet with residents. Light refreshments will be served. <br />"We are excited for people to come and meet with Flood Control Zone District staff and learn <br />more about the work we are undertaking throughout the County," says Arden Thomas, Kittitas <br />County Water Resources Manager. "Our work is funded through the Flood Control Zone District <br />levy and this is a great opportunity to connect directly with our ratepayers about their flooding <br />concerns. We are also grateful to the Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board for their <br />work organizing this event, and the participation by the City of Ellensburg, Conservation <br />District, Department of Fish and Wildlife and Mid -Columbia Fisheries so that people can have <br />access to a wide range of resources." <br />The Kittitas County Flood Control Zone District was formed in 2012.
