KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />PUBLIC WORKS — BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />2023 STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: February 13, 2023 <br />TOPIC: February 23rd Streamside Landowner Workshop <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Direct Staff <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Arden Thomas <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Direct staff to issue press release. <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />The Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board has been organizing a <br />Streamside Landowner Workshop scheduled for February 23rd from 5prn — <br />7:30pm at the Hal Holmes Center in Ellensburg. <br />• The aim of the workshop is to enable landowners to connect with different <br />organization to ask questions about streamside stewardship and flood risk <br />concerns. <br />• This workshop is a good opportunity to talk directly with Flood Control Zone <br />District rate payers about their concerns and the District Capital Improvement <br />Program. <br />• Staff from the Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board, City of <br />Ellensburg, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Kittitas County <br />Conservation District, and Mid -Columbia Fisheries have all confirmed that they <br />will be participating in the workshop. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board offered to organize a workshop for <br />residents in the greater Ellensburg area. The purpose of the workshop is to connect <br />residents with resources to address flood risk concerns and promote riparian habitat <br />stewardship. This workshop is scheduled for February 23�d from 5pm — 7:30pm at the <br />Hal Holmes Center. There will be a moderated panel discussion and ample time for <br />guests to meet one on one with participating organizations to discuss their questions and <br />concerns. Staff from the Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board, City of <br />Ellensburg, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Kittitas County Conservation <br />District, and Mid -Columbia Fisheries have all confirmed that they will be participating in <br />the workshop. <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />Public Works "Work Session Staff Report", 2023 <br />
