WashingtonStateParks&RecreationCommissionstoriesinthenewspaper,radio,andtelevision.Agenciesshouldalsocountthenumberofrecreationalboatingsafetypostsonthesocialmediachannelsofpartnerorganizationswhentheagencycanshowthatthepostsaretheresultofinteractionwiththatpartner.•Small=4•Medium=8•Large=16Campaigns:SeeSOARforreportingrequirements.Goalsforallagencies,regardlessofsize,isparticipationinthesecampaigns.TheStateParksRecreationalBoatingSafetycommunicationsstaffwilldistributecontenttoallagenciesforeachofthecampaignsmakingparticipationquickandsimple.Thesecampaignscanhaveapowerfulimpactifallagenciesparticipate.•OperationDryWatercampaignisanationalcampaignfocusedonthedeterrenceofboatingundertheinfluence.Participationinthiscampaignismandatoryforallagenciesthatreceiveafederalassistancegrant.ItisacombinationofemphasispatrolsandmediatheweekendbeforetheFourthofJuly.•SprinRAboardCampaignwasanationalcampaignbutisnowastatecampaigndesignedtoencourageallboaterstotakearecreationalboatingsafetyclass.ItoccursinlateMarch.=NationalSafeBoatingWeekisanationallyobservedweekfocusedonencouragingallboaterstoweartheirlifejacketsandotherbestpracticesforoptimalsafety,Inadditiontomediaposts,agenciesareencouragedtoparticipatein"WearIT"events.ThiscampaignissponsoredbytheNationalSafeBoatingCouncil.•SafePaddlingWeekisacampaignsponsoredbytheWashingtonStateParksRecreationalBoatingSafetyProgram.ThepurposeoftheweekistoelevateawarenessaroundbasicpaddlingsafetybehaviorssuchasalwayswearingaPFD,obtainingtraining,etc.WaterwayMarkingParticipatingagenciesshouldreportthetotalnumberofAidstoNavigation(ATONs)thattheyareresponsibleforwithintheirjurisdictionontheSOAR.DonotcountATON'semplaced/maintainedbytheUSCG,CorpsofEngineersorotherFederalagencies.Thecountyorlocaljurisdictionwilluseonlythosewaterwaymarkerswhichconformtotheuniformstatewaterwaymarkingsystemasidentified,foundinchapter352-66WAC.AccountabilityAuditsAllagencieswillbeauditedonaperiodicrotatingbasis.Whenyouragencyisslatedforanaudit,theStateParksMarineLawEnforcementCoordinatorwillcontactyouragencytoscheduleatime.YouwillPage17of18
