BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />Resolution No. 2022.'ffi <br />A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A VETERANS ADVISORY BOARD FOR <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />WHEREAS: The legislature has provided that each county is to establish a Veterans Advisory <br />Board as set fonh in RCW 73.08.035; and <br />WHEREAS: RCW 73.08.035(l) provides that each Veterans Advisory Board shall advise the <br />county legislative authority on the needs of local indigent veterans, the resources available to the <br />local indigent veterans, and programs that could benefit the needs of local indigent veterans and <br />their families; and <br />WHEREAS: RCW 73.08.010(1) provides that the county legislative authority shall consult with <br />and solicit recommendations from the veterans'advisory board established under RCW <br />73.08.035 to determine the appropriate services needed for local indigent veterans; and <br />WHEREAS: RCW 73.08.035(2) provides that the county legislative authority must solicit <br />representatives from either local branches of nationally recognized veterans' service <br />organizations or the veterans' community at large, or both, to serve on the board. No fewer than a <br />majority of the board members shall be members from nationally recognized veterans' service <br />organizations and only veterans are eligible to serve as board members; and <br />WHEREAS: It is the interest of the public to establish a Veterans Advisory Board pursuant to <br />the provision of RCW 73.08 <br />NOW' THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Veterans Advisory Board for Kittitas <br />County be and is hereby established pursuant to RCW 73.08.035. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Veterans Advisory Board shall consist of 5 members, <br />2 alternates, and I commissioner. Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners shall solicit <br />and appoint representatives to serye on the Veterans Advisory Board for Kittitas County <br />pursuant to the procedures and requirements set forth in RCW 73.03.035(2).
