KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE`. October 18, 2022 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Ratify the <br />Chair's Signature on Community Rating System <br />Annual Recertification Form CC -213. <br />BACKGROUND: The Community Rating System is a program <br />offered by the National Flood Insurance Program <br />which rewards communities that implement certain <br />activities to reduce the impacts of flooding with <br />lower flood insurance rates. <br />INTERACTION: <br />Kittitas County was accepted into the program in <br />2014 as a Class 6 community and this rating was <br />maintained during the 2019 program audit. Due to <br />the County's participation in the program, residents <br />receive a 20% discount on standard flood insurance <br />policy rates. <br />Every year the County is required to verify the <br />activities for which points are received are still <br />being implemented. The verification form requires <br />the signature of the Chief Executive Officer of the <br />jurisdiction. <br />FEMA required the Chair's signature by October <br />15, 2022, ahead of full Board of County <br />Commissioner action. <br />Public Works - Flood Control Zone District <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to Ratify the Chair's <br />Signature on Federal Emergency Management <br />Agency Annual Community Rating System Report <br />Documents <br />HANDLING: Return a copy of the Resolution to Public Works, <br />Flood Control Zone District <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br />Recertification Form CC -213 <br />LEAD STAFF: Arden Thomas, Water Resource Manager <br />
