Upper Swauk Landscape Evaluation Summary (2020) | Page 1
LEARN MORE CONTACT
This landscape evaluation was completed in 2020. Some areas of current dry forest may no longer support forest.
Treating 39-62% of forested acres is recommended to increase resilience and reduce fire risk to communities using a
combination of mechanical, prescribed fire, and managed wildfire treatments.
High priority areas for potential treatments that maximize forest health and wildfire response benefit include locations
north and west of Highway 97 and along roads near homes in and around Liberty.
Swauk Pine in the southeastern portion and Wild Blew in the western portion are two project areas that have been
assessed for USFS restoration projects (Fig. 2).

Total Acres Forested Acres Treatment Goal (Acres)
39,175 35,450 14,000 - 22,000
UPPER SWAUK PLANNING AREA
LANDSCAPE EVALUATION SUMMARY (2020)
