<br /> <br /> <br />Community Wildfire Protection Plan 5 September 2018 <br />‒ Resilient landscapes: Landscapes across all jurisdictions are resilient to fire-related <br />disturbances in accordance with management objectives. <br />‒ Fire-adapted communities: Human populations and infrastructure can withstand a <br />wildfire without loss of life and property. <br />‒ Wildfire response: All jurisdictions participate in making and implementing safe, <br />effective, efficient risk-based wildfire management decisions. <br />2.2 Kittitas Fire Adapted Communities Coalition <br />In May 2017, a group of stakeholders convened at the Swauk-Teanaway Grange Hall to discuss the <br />formation of a group later called the Kittitas Fire Adapted Communities Coalition (KFACC). This <br />group discussed needs and goals to better address growing wildfire concerns and coordinate <br />resources to efficiently increase resiliency in the Kittitas County community. Members of the KFACC <br />include Kittitas County Fire & Rescue No. 7, Kittitas Valley Fire & Rescue, Washington State <br />Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Southeast Region, USFS – Okanogan Wenatchee National <br />Forest, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Kittitas County, Army National Guard, Hidden Valley-Swauk <br />Fire Adapted Community, Kittitas Conservation Trust, Suncadia, Washington Farm Forestry <br />Association (WFFA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), KCCD, and private landowners. <br /> <br />Formal formation of the KFACC has been initiated and expanded to include many more fire districts, <br />Kittitas Chapter of Washington Farm Forestry Association, County Commissioner, local governments, <br />Suncadia Resort, and others. KFACC has developed a charter, short-term and long-term goals for <br />community wildfire resiliency, and meets monthly to share, learn, and coordinate efforts toward meeting <br />established goals. Goals include updating this CWPP, mapping in GIS accomplishments and priority <br />needs, modeling fire simulations for high priority neighborhoods as part of CWPP and GIS project, <br />and community outreach that results in greater engagement and participation in risk reduction. <br />KFACC participants have recognized the need to coordinate actions and work.
