Kittitas County
Department of Public Works
411 N. Ruby Suite 1
Ellensburg, WA 98926
June 2, 2022
To Whom It May Concern,
RECEIVED
i U . 2922
KITTITAS COUNTY
CiEf"I" P;'RI'C WOW
I live at 921 Hanson Rd in Ellensburg. Currently, the speed limit on Hanson Road is 50 mph. I am
requesting that the speed limit be reduced from 50 to 35mph at the start of the Hanson Road where
Thorp Highway intersects.
Our house is one half mile from the Thorp Highway intersection and we have had numerous pets killed
on Hanson Rd because I believe, the cars are driving too fast. We have lived in the house since 1982.
Since then, we have had two dogs and three cats, all family pets, killed on the road.
Our neighbors across the street, the Coat's, have two young daughters, in addition to a pet cat. They
are in agreement. Our next door neighbors, the Boderman's, are in agreement. I believe they have lost
their pets, too.
I was talking to a neighbor a few houses up from ours. She said that it is not uncommon to see dead
cats on the side of the road.
There are approximately 24 houses on Hanson for 1.2 miles, until the area becomes farmland. I propose
that the residential part of Hanson be at a safe 35mph and then increased as the road transitions into
areas of less density.
Sincerely,
t`
Cr4 C1
Louise Wright
509-899-1762
Jazzercise.gal@gmail.com
