Kittitas County Courthouse · 205 West 5th Avenue, STE 108 · Ellensburg, WA 98926
(509) 962-7508 ·FAX (509) 962-7679
www.co.kittitas.wa.us
Exhibit A
App Features
Features Available for beta testing (May 1st) and at launch (May 30th)
• MapBox Integration: A leading map software provider that provides high speed app
functionality.
• Improved Cartography: Fully customized map design to optimize display
• Over-use dispersion for trails and trailheads: Displays information for overused or
crowded trails and trailheads that includes suggested alternative locations for app users to
visit instead.
• List Regional Recommendations and Regional Guides: TREADtalk provides social
media posts that allow a TREADcontrol Admin user to create a ranked or unranked list of
locations based on any criteria desired. For example, a local DMO can create a post that
lists the top 5 trails in the area that are preferable to visit in the summer because they are
higher elevation and out of the scorching heat.
• Regional Platform (Ability to open turn off by county/SWT Marketing Regions):
The app content is organized by location such as counties and SWT Marketing Regions.
TREADcontrol Super Admin account owners have the ability to turn data on or off for an
entire county or marketing region.
• Publisher Content (Expert Content): App content is provided by local and regional
experts and is informed by guidebooks, maps, and other publications. These local experts,
or “influencers”, have the ability to highlight certain trails for promotion, create
alternative trail lists for crowded area, edit descriptions and attributes for geographic data
and other tasks on TREADcontrol that will greatly enhance the app experience for the
end-user.
• TREADtalk: A proprietary social media feed that allows app users and TREADcontrol
admin users to create posts viewable by the public depending on privacy settings. Posts
are always linked to a location on the map allowing for seamless transitions for
TREADtalk view to map view of the same information. Posts are grouped into categories
depending on purpose. TREADcontrol Admin posts are different from general app user
posts. General app user posts are limited to one type of post that consists of an image or
video, a description, hashtags, a location, and the option to fill out a trail survey designed
by the land manager. TREADcontrol Admin Posts consist of the following categories:
o Alerts: Provide app users with emergency information
o Event posts: List information about any type of outdoor recreation event
o Announcements: A general post regarding outdoor recreation
o List: A list of recommended locations for a certain purpose
• GPS Recording: The GPS recording feature allows the user to track speed, distance,
elevation, ascent, stopped time, moving time, pace and more.
• Display Control Center: App users are able to customize their app experience. Controls
are available to adjust what layers are available to view on the map such as trails,
trailheads, TREADtalk posts, Alerts, and more. App users can also select from a library
of “App Themes” such as “Fire Season”, “Backpacking”, “Winter”, “Motor Sports” and
more. These themes will display the appropriate map and TREADtalk information
optimized for the specific outdoor recreation activities related to each theme.
• TREAD Shop: The TREADshop allows app users to shop for locally produced goods
from businesses that support outdoor recreation infrastructure projects and initiatives.
