KITTITAS COUNTY <br />PUBLIC WORKS STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />In -Person and Webex <br />Regular Meeting <br />MONDAY 1:30 PM May 23, 2022 <br />Board Members Present: Chairman Laura Osiadacz, Vice -Chairman Cory <br />Wright, and Commissioner Brett Wachsmith. <br />Others: Mark Cook, Arden Thomas, Josh Fredrickson, Rebecca Cruse, <br />Candie Leader, Public Works; Jeremiah Cromie, Community Development <br />Services; (2) Members of the Public <br />At 1:30 pm Vice -Chairman Cory Wright opened the Public Works Study <br />Session. <br />FIRE EVACUATION ROUTE PLANNING EFFORT <br />Mark Cook presented a proposed work program for the Fire Evacuation <br />Route efforts. Mark Cook proposed that land use designation around <br />evacuation routes be addressed, and land use limitations may occur <br />for high-risk areas not suitable for defense. Questions pursued about <br />what land use restrictions could be expected. Mark Cook added that <br />additional planning will be needed to utilize an alert system for <br />emergencies, particularly in Upper County areas with extensive <br />recreational camping occurring. Vice -Chairman Cory Wright requested a <br />buildable land survey be completed. The BOCC supports staff efforts <br />and concluded that the survey will be fundamental in moving forward. <br />SAFE ROUTE TO SCHOOL GRANT PROPOSAL <br />Mark Cook seeks the Board of County Commissioners support on <br />submission of a grant application to "Safe Routes to School" grant <br />program. Mark Cook explained that this grant will assist in improving <br />a corridor for students to safely travel to school from Roslyn. <br />Questions pursued about easements and the affect on private <br />properties adjacent to the proposed route. Vice -Chairman Cory Wright <br />requested this proposal be presented to COG. BOCC supports submission <br />of the application and directs staff to engage in additional outreach <br />easement acquisition be performed prior implementation. <br />FISCAL ANALYST/PW TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST <br />Mark Cook requested the Board of County Commissioners direction to <br />formalize the Fiscal Analyst/ PW Technology Specialist position. The <br />Board of County Commissioners supports moving the job description <br />forward with Kittitas County Human Resources Department for <br />finalization. <br />2022-5-23 Minutes <br />
