APPENDIX II: PRELIMINARY AIRPORT ASSESSMENT <br />APPENDIX <br />repair stations that are rated to provide airframe, powerplant, instrument, radio, <br />propeller, or accessory repair and maintenance. lt is important to note that some of <br />these repair stations may be dedicated to the Air Carrier segment of the industry. lt is <br />also important to note that there are over 300,000 Airframe and/or Powerplant <br />Mechanics that either individually or through a technical service company (not certified <br />as an aircraft repair station) that also provides technical services. <br />companies (NetJets and Flight Options), down from approximately six major <br />companies. ln addition, there are several smaller fractional aircraft companies that <br />operate either specific airframes or in specific regions of the country. Combined, these <br />companies operate approximately 800 aircraft that have approximately 4,000 aircraft <br />owners. <br />General Aviation New Aircraft Deliveries <br />General Aviation new aircraft deliveries by US manufacturers reached a high of 17,811 <br />in 1978 and then experienced a significant decline until bottoming out in 1994 at an <br />industry low of 929 units. The significant decline during this period can be attributed to a <br />number of factors including: <br />with product liability insurance) <br />Following this decline, General Aviation aircraft deliveries increased from 929 annual <br />shipments in 1994 to 1,771 annual shipments in2019 which represents an increase of <br />90.6% or a compounded annual increase of 7.4o/o over the period.
