KITTITAS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA STAFF REPORT AGENDA DATE: April 19, 2022 ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Special Event Application for the Teanaway Gravel Ride on 7/9/2022 &7/10/2022. BACKGROUND: The Commissioner’s office received a Special Event Application from Erik Olson to host the Teanaway Gravel Ride to be held on 7/9/2022 & 7/10/2022. INTERACTION: Staff forwarded the event application to the following departments for review: Public Works, Fire Marshal, Solid Waste, Public Health, Prosecutor, Treasurer and Sheriff. The applicant is requesting a waiver to the following: Kittitas County Code Chapter 5.20.100 – Penal Bond – Bond of Indemnity - The applicant HAS provided proof of insurance & endorsements and feels there event will have no impact on the roads. The applicant does not believe they need a waiver to the following: Kittitas County Code Chapter 5.20.160 – Closing Hours since their event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. & go until 8:00 p.m. and according to the County Code, events shall not be open to the public before the hour of 7:00 a.m. RECOMMENDATION: Contingent approval with the following Department recommendations: Fire Marshal: On site EMT utilize the 911 system in the event of emergency. Public Health/EH: The Applicant must provide at least 3 portable toilets and handwashing facilities located in high use areas at the beginning and ending points of the race with at least one being handicap accessible. Garbage cans with tight fitting lids must be provided at the start and end of each race in high use areas. Treasurer: The Event will be required to report and remit Admissions Tax for the event. Due by 7/31/2022 and will need to create and file an admissions tax registration, noting it’s the first year for the event and no previous year’s tax
