KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: April 19, 2022 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Special Event Application for the <br />Teanaway Gravel Ride on 7/9/2022 &7/10/2022. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Commissioner’s office received a Special Event <br />Application from Erik Olson to host the Teanaway Gravel <br />Ride to be held on 7/9/2022 & 7/10/2022. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Staff forwarded the event application to the following <br />departments for review: Public Works, Fire Marshal, Solid <br />Waste, Public Health, Prosecutor, Treasurer and Sheriff. <br /> <br /> The applicant is requesting a waiver to the following: <br /> <br />Kittitas County Code Chapter 5.20.100 – Penal Bond – <br />Bond of Indemnity - The applicant HAS provided proof of <br />insurance & endorsements, however they expired on <br />4/4/2022, and will need to submit updated ones that cover <br />the event dates. <br /> <br /> The applicant does not believe they need a waiver to the <br />following: <br /> <br />Kittitas County Code Chapter 5.20.160 – Closing Hours <br />since their event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. & go <br />until 8:00 p.m. and according to the County Code, events <br />shall not be open to the public before the hour of 7:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Contingent approval with the following Department <br />recommendations: <br /> <br /> Fire Marshal: On site EMT utilize the 911 system in the <br />event of emergency. <br /> <br /> Public Health/EH: The Applicant must provide at least 3 <br />portable toilets and handwashing facilities located in high <br />use areas at the beginning and ending points of the race <br />with at least one being handicap accessible. Garbage cans <br />with tight fitting lids must be provided at the start and end <br />of each race in high use areas. <br /> <br /> Treasurer: The Event will be required to report and remit <br />Admissions Tax for the event. Due by 7/31/2022 and will <br />need to create and file an admissions tax registration, noting
