5.4 Custom Units Preferences
A custom units set defines units for all variables in BehavePlus and the decimal display
for output variables. Changes may be made using Configure > Custom units preferenc-
es (Figure 26), which are then applied to the current worksheet. Changes can be saved for
future use, if desired. You may want to create a custom units set if, for example, you pre-
fer to use ft/min for rate of spread rather than ch/h. Or you might create a units set with
English units for everything except canopy bulk density, which is commonly expressed in
kg/m3.
There are over 180 variables in BehavePlus, which are divided into groups for purposes
of assigning units and decimal display (Appendix G). The units are assigned by category.
Units for all variables in that group will be changed. The Help window lists the variables
assigned to each group (Figure 26).
You do not have to save a custom units set to apply changes to the current worksheet.
You have the option of saving changes in a custom units set or only applying changes to
the current worksheet (Figure 27). In either case, the changes will be saved with the cur-
rent worksheet or run. Figure 28 shows the output table from Figure 22 after reducing the
number of decimals for Surface ROS from 1 to 0. If you are going to use different units
and decimals often, you will want to save them as a custom units set, which can be ac-
cessed by clicking on Configure > Units set selection > Custom.
rvd & Venom IIMb 1 Weelher Ubb I T=oe. & fipatf Ua. !xc d0 ElFcob Unts IMM & hiw Taft j Cacho & S.Be U b i
Vri.ble
usito Dodoolr
swfue A05
PF-
"" " --3 FF 7
C7raamK09
Fair ____ F_.E
ratIIWPWUJitluea
f._. _ ...4J-5-
es
'Fano'.
