PW believes it prudent to develop signage for trailhead deployment warning of dangerous
potential conflict on pedestrian trails from wheeled vehicles (mountain bikes). It seems
unreasonable to presume mountain bikers will not use Towns to Teanaway trails or any
other recreation trail intended for pedestrian use only. In advance of the County
acquiring and managing recreational trails, PW recommends developing standard
warning sign formats and messaging.
PW does not manage insurance for the County. The County's risk manager may be able
to advise the Board on implications of recreational risk through the Washington State
County Risk Pool.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
Undetermined at this time.
ATTACHMENTS:
EXHIBIT 1:
RCW 36.34.340
EXHIBIT 2:
RCW 36.68.090
EXHIBIT 3:
RCW 79A.35.110
EXHIBIT 4:
RCW 4.24.2 10
EXHIBIT 5:
RCW 4.96.010
Public Works "Work Session Staff Report", 2022
