feasibility of Public Works maintaining the road with little public <br />benefit. Staff was directed to schedule a public hearing to consider <br />the vacation of a portion of county road right-of-way on Strande Rd. <br />RECREATION LIABILITY <br />Mark Cook presented his findings of liability at recreation sites <br />potentially sponsored by the county. Mark Cook continued that the <br />county would need to recognize and post at trailheads that the trails <br />in the Teanaway Trails to Towns network are for non -motorized use <br />only. Discussion was held. <br />WILDLAND FIRE MAPPING <br />Mark Cook informed the Board of County Commissioners of new wildfire <br />modeling that may assist the county in predicting control lines and <br />designing evacuation routes based on the science. Mark Cook added <br />that this data could be constructive to address land use restrictions <br />based on land resource use and fire life safety. The Board of County <br />Commissioner stated their support of Public Works efforts on this <br />project. <br />CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING REQUESTS FOR 2023 <br />Mark Cook inquired to the Board of County Commissioners on what <br />projects they would like to see targeted for funding in 2023. Mark <br />Cook introduced Kristi More from The Ferguson Group. Kristi More gave <br />a brief summary on the submission process, and deadlines to submit <br />projects to the House for review. The Board of County Commissioners <br />requested that funding be targeted on the following 3 projects: <br />Search and Rescue Facility, City of Kittitas municipal water supply, <br />and Vantage Boat Ramp Parking. <br />ROAD FUND LEVY LIFT PUBLIC OUTREACH <br />Mark Cook gave background on the Road Fund and the potential for a <br />levy lift in 2024. Mark Cook is requesting to prepare the Road Fund <br />Levy Lift for the 2024 Elections. Discussion was held about the <br />success of additional tax requests in the current financial <br />environment and the time limitations for proper public outreach <br />efforts in the 2022 election year. The Board of County Commissioners <br />supports conducting the Road Levy Lift Outreach for 2024. <br />Meeting adjourned at 2:55 pm. <br />2022-03-28 Minutes <br />
