15.3 Yelp Window
The right-hand pane of most BehavePlus windows contains intormation related to the
subject of the window known as context -sensitive Help. The contents of any Help win-
dow can be printed with a right -click on the window.
The Guide button beside each variable on the worksheet opens a window for that vari-
able. The Help window gives a description of the variable, explaining how and where it
is used. Some of these descriptions include pictures and diagrams while others include
flowcharts. Additional information is available for many variables. For example, the 20 -ft
wind speed variable Help window provides an illustration and table of the Beaufort Scale
for estimating 20 -ft wind speed (Figure 71). In the CONTAIN module, the line resource
production rate Help window contains tables from the Fireline Handbook, Appendix A
(National Wildfire Coordinating Group 2004).
In windows that list available output variables, hovering over a variable with the mouse
will trigger a related Help window to appear (Figure 72). The Help window gives de-
scriptions of input options, including links to additional information in some cases
(Figure 73).
r- Picture ry Help
4I Back I y Frwd ] nnome 1401ndex
8 - - 38 + Fkesh gale:
• surfaced strong Sarna Ana,
• irneme stress on all exposed objects, vegetation,
and buadiggs,
+ canopy oE'ers virtually no protection,
+ wind flow is systematic in disturbing everything in
its path.
NORTHERN ROCKY MOUNTAIN
SCALE OF WIND VELOCITY
FOR USE IN ESTIMATING WIND VELOCITIES
IN WESTERN MONTANA AND MATHERN IDAHO
NOATNERN ROCKY UOVIMIN FOREST- RANGE EMPERIMW STATION
WIND CLASS USW95fOR D INg EFFECTS OF WIND
LESS THAN I kFH.
