Figure 44 is another example of changing graph appearance. Curves for four of the fuel
models from Figure 42 are plotted. The curve color was changed to black.
I SehavePlus 5.0.1 Wed, May 12, 2010 at 12:45:44 Page 5
t
a
Dead mois M-0, live mois 750-o, 0% slope
O
0 1 2 3 4 5 5 7 8
Mdflame Wmd Speed (upslope) (milh)
Figure 44—Four fuel models from Figure 43 were plotted with line color changed to black.
7.3.2 Axis Change
If multiple values are entered for two continuous variables, the X-axis variable can be
defined as either one of them, and the selection can produce quite different results. The
calculations are the same, but the form of the graph can convey different information.
The X-axis variable is initially selected as the first one on the worksheet. Figure 45
shows graphs first with dead fuel moisture as the X-axis variable with a curve for several
midflame wind speed values and then with midflame wind speed selected as the X-axis
variable.
52 USDA Forest Service Gen.
