, i'. <br />i x" i L <br />TOWN OF SOUTH CLB ELUM , <br />RESoLUTT oN 2ozz - oZ I t slwzz- <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERLOCAL <br />AGREEMENT WITH KITTITAS COUNTY FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES <br />THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF SOUTH CLE ELUM <br />WHEREAS the geographical boundaries of the Town of South Cle Elum (the "Town") lie within <br />Kittitas County (the "County"); and <br />WHEREAS,the Town possesses the power, legal authority, and responsibility to provide law <br />enforcement services to the citizens within its boundaries; and <br />WHEREAS,the County, through the Kittitas County Sheriffs Office ("KCSO"), provides law <br />enforcement services to the citizens of Kittitas County; and <br />WHEREAS,the County has the power and legal authority to extend those law enforcement services <br />into the geographical area of the Town; and <br />WHEREAS the Town desires that the County extend its law enforcement services into the <br />geographical area of the Town; and <br />WHEREAS,the Town desires to enter into an agreement with the County whereby the County, <br />through the KCSO, will extend its law enforcement services into the geographical <br />boundaries of the Town, and the Town will compensate the County for the equitable <br />share of extending such law enforcement services into the Town; and <br />WHEREAS, the County agrees to extend such law enforcement services into the geographical <br />boundaries of the Town; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 39.34 RCW authorizes two or more public entities to contract with each other to <br />perform functions that each may individually perform. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Mayor is authorized to enter into the <br />Interlocal Agreement with the County in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A. <br />ADoprED tr,i. l5houy or Ebrr-,r0nl ,2022. <br />WN OF SOUTH CLE ELUM <br />L, DeVere, <br />Page I ofl0
