You must provide the evidence utilized in determining your projections.
ReSpOnSe 2.1 * r;\,tty r.roulrl taurisls lt?vel lo K;ltil:rs iiouniy to atlen(r your evenllactivitylfacrl'ty?
Cultural tourism helps preserve and promote the unique cultural aspects of a place,
preventing them from being forgotten or forever lost. lt helps preserve our local
culture while allowing our communities to emphasize the uniqueness and to
differentiate it from other locations. We think this is one of the reasons people are so
attracted to Roslyn and its' funkiness.
We have the means of attracting visitors through our cultural sites and evenls. The
Roslyn Cemetery and Coal Miners' Memorial provide the community and visitors an
opportuniiy to rediscover the achievements and hard ships of our ancestors. They
provide a connection to our past. Msiting our areas' unique treasures and
participating in fun, enriching, cultural events create admiration and community
pride. We already possess all these aspects; our goal is to comnrunicate to a
broader audience. LTAC funding will assist with this goal.
2500 characler lintil
Response 2.2 *lJescailre lhe prior sUccess of your evetllactivttyifactlily |o altraciion lorlrists.
Even though we scaled back our events in 2021 we were able to still attract visitors
from outside Kittitas county. During Memorial Day weekend we held two dedication
ceremonies.
On Saturday morning we held a dedication ceremony for the ltalian Monument that
was erected in the Silvio Pellico Cemetery. ln the afternoon we dedicated the new
Kiosk structure and interactive digital kiosk computer. Both these events were
supposed to take place in 2020 but were postponed and scaled back due to Covid.
Despjte the restrictions both events were well attended and provided us with
valuable feedback vra a visitors log that we had set out on Friday and Saturday.
Capturing information was one of the things we learned about after going through
this application process last year. The data we gathered from our guest book that we
had out during only two of the four days of Memorial Day weekend proved to us
whai we already suspected, 57o/o were from out of the couniy and 1 g% were visitors
that paid for local lodging. The visitors that came the furthest were a family of g from
Richfield, wisconsin. Another very interesting statistic is that 37% of the visitors that
signed our guesi log didn't have family members buried in the Roslyn Cemetery.
The largest cultural celebration we hold is the croatian picnic which is held the 3rd
Saturday in July. No need to be Croatian, many people enjoy becoming Croatian for
ihe day by adding an "ilch" to their last name. This is a celebration of the largest
cultural group to immigrate to our area. This is a farnily friendly event that attracts
people from all over the country and even the world. This year we saw record
attendance with an estimate of 450-500 people (usually we have between 350-400).
At the entry gate we asked people to fill out a survey that we used to draw names
and award door prizes for participation. Even though we were overwhelnred at the
entry gate and didn't capiure as many people to fill out the survey as we planned,
we still had 119 completed surveys to gather data from.
2500 characler lilltit
Application Questions: Part 2
3l lmpact
