PROJECT NARRATIVE <br />1. Request Description: Please describe the work this position will perform. Include a job description <br />and any other pertinent information. The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce (KCCC) serves Kittitas <br />County in the efforts of economic development. In order to provide the utmost focus we will be asking for <br />the following personnel for this 2022 funding: Director of Economic Advancement (new position for 2022), <br />Certified Advisor SBDC (has been approved previously), and Associate Business Development Coordinator <br />(has been approved previously). These positions [job descriptions attached) will position Kittitas County <br />towards a healthy economy. (see chart) <br />During the recovery of the pandemic, KCCC has recognized the importance of small business retention, and at <br />the same time the need for continued expansion. Expansion is under the direction of the SBDC Advisor while <br />our business retention is handled by both the Director and the Associate Business Development Coordinator. <br />Additionally, communication has been crucial for businesses during the Governor's updates, public health <br />mandates, workforce struggle and many other items. The position of Director will pivot the county to be more <br />strategic in thought process, oversee outreach to existing businesses, communicate regularly with our elected <br />officials, and drive objectives towards relocation or recruitment of new businesses. <br />Once approved the Director will immediately begin to tackle the following projects that have been <br />identified as crucial to the economic health of the County. They include, but are not limited to: <br />• Vantage: Develop relationships with investing developers <br />• Kittitas: Recruitment of incoming businesses, sewer/water system <br />Ellensburg: Recruitment of incoming businesses, collaborative marketing and sales kit for <br />the community in partnership with Centerfuse <br />• Cle Elum: Work with City of Ellensburg to secure funding for Phase III of Cie Elum <br />Downtown Revitalization Project <br />• Roslyn: Tourism planning, working with City to continue with infrastructure projects <br />o Easton: Land use and developers; working with community development <br />* Kittitas County <br />o Work with Yakima Basin Integrated plan. Capitalize on work that has been done <br />that will strengthen Kittitas County's position in outdoor recreation opportunities, <br />agricultural and fish industries. <br />o Improvements and expansions to Bowers Field. Work with Bowers Field Strategic <br />Plan team to advance goals and objectives of the plan <br />o Advocacy for industries within county; in-depth relationships with our legislative <br />and congressional elect. <br />The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce works to strengthen partnerships and resources to support economic <br />opportunities; these positions will seek opportunities to grow and sustain qualified workforce. They will <br />promote the retention and expansion of existing businesses; and support new businesses. The Director will be <br />set-up to develop, recommend, and implement the county's Economic Development Strategy & Work plan such <br />as I-90 improvements, county -wide broadband initiatives, and affordable housing efforts. They will identify <br />and keep inventory of properties county -wide for economic development projects to ease the communication <br />with state site locators. They will serve as the leader in the county to recruit and assist relocation of businesses <br />to Kittitas County. They will assist and advocate for businesses during permitting efforts. They will research, <br />analyze and report to the COG committee on economic market trends. They will perform public relations <br />related tasks on behalf of Kittitas County, including physical and digital press releases, press conferences, and <br />social media. They will monitor the county's actions/policies pertaining to Economic Development. The <br />Director position will have the additional two positions (listed above) to help manage businesses at all levels of <br />need.. <br />
