However, our Board of Directors and committee members have been
creative in addressing these impacts. We have implemented a planning fonnat that
allows for activities and events to flow through town- Moving from business to
business, pocket park to pocket park, this allowed us to safely offer activities. Our
activiiies ihis past year were held. but in many cases modified to meet safety
requirements for COVID.
For Pioneer Days 2021 , due to crowd concerns. we did not offer a full menu of
activities in downtown Cle Elum- Our vendor market and Kid Zone were not offered,
and the 3 on 3 basketball tournament was canceled. However, our Association
coniinued to bring Pioneer Days partners together to identify activities that were
going to be held and to encourage a "flow" of activities throughout Cle Elum. Roslyn.
Ronald. and Suncadia Resorl. We also worked with businesses like Dru Bru to
develop ouidoor games for families. As a result, we were able to identify a full menu
of offerings that were ihen advertised locally. online, and through the efforts of all
padners. We had a very successful, safe. and fun Pioneer Days weekend.
We successfully introduced a Mother's Day Market with pop-ups in retail, food. and
beverage locations. Vendors were placed on the sidewalk and people were
encouraged to shop and explore downtown during that weekend. Another successful
venture that we were able to safely hold was the new Cle Elum Public Market
downtown. Working with the Kittitas County Health Deparlment we were able to
develop a safe layout to space vendors and a safe foot route for market visitors.
For Boo-Elum, our fall signature event, was not held as a "Trunk or Treat" event like
normal on First Street. We adapted and had a "Boo Cruize" where our trunk or
treaters drove through neighborhoods bringing treats to them. For 2A21 . we are
planning four different ways to hold this event and waiching COVID numbers to
determine how it will take place. We are planning two safe events: a Scarecrow
Contest and a Pumpkin Path, to offer the opportunity for families. businesses, and
visitors to enjoy Halloween.
We are currently in the planning phase for our annual Christmas in Cle Elum, again
looking at different ways to safely offer a festive time during a peak season of
tourists and retail business sales.
2500 characler lirnil
Additional lnformation Working with the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce. our association was able to
receive lodging data for this past year.
Based on these daia points from Star Destination Report and Kittitas County
Chamber of Comrnerce, we predict 1'1 .025 people will travel to Upper County in
2022 from 50+ miles outside of the county for leisure activities. ln addition. we
predict this could bring 4,320 roorn nights at the average ADR of $103.88, equaling
a total impact of $448,762 to ihe upper county area.
Tlre demand of hotel rootn nights sold in 2A20 in the county was 41,851 for leisure
travel that includes evenls, Upper County prope(ies selling 17,282 hotel room
nights. 25% of that number, (the average percent of 50 miles or further traveling for
events) = 4,320 room nighis.
These visitors' activities may include festivals and events, retail shopping, dining,
outdoor recreation, and overnight stays.
2500 chari.cter lirril
