KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: January 18, 2022 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to establish <br />County Road Project (CRP) number supporting <br />Intersection Safety Improvements at various <br />locations including Kittitas and Vantage Highways <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County has been selected to receive <br />$416,000 from the Highway Safety Improvement <br />Program (HSIP) for intersection safety <br />improvements at various locations, including along <br />Kittitas and Vantage Highways. <br />INTERACTION: <br />This project will install solar powered LED <br />embedded signs to enhance driver awareness of <br />intersections and promote safety. Example of signs <br />to be included are "Stop" and "Stop Ahead" signs. <br />Intersections have been selected based on criteria <br />including traffic volume and crash history. HSIP <br />funding is through the Washington State <br />Department of Transportation (WSDOT). The <br />award does not require matching local funds if the <br />project is obligated by September of 2022. By <br />beginning now, we anticipate being able to meet the <br />requirements for obligating federal funds. <br />Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to establish County Road <br />Project (CRP) number for various Intersection <br />Safety Improvements. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br />LEAD STAFF: Joshua Fredrickson, County Engineer <br />
