2020 Solid Waste and Moderate <br />Risk Waste Management Plan Update <br /> <br />AX0304191054PDX 5-3 <br />5.3.2 Municipalities <br />Each municipality has the right to regulate its own solid waste collection services. The following <br />arrangements are in place for the municipalities of Kittitas County: <br /> The City of Cle Elum contracts for mandatory curbside collection of garbage within its incorporated <br />area. Commercial can and dumpster services also are provided. <br /> The City of Ellensburg contracts for collection services within its incorporated area, but collection is <br />not mandatory. Curbside recycling is included in the service fee. Curbside yard waste collection is <br />available for an additional fee. <br /> All other municipalities in the County are served by Waste Management of Ellensburg with voluntary <br />service under the WUTC certificate described in Chapter 5.3.1. Private recyclers can only collect from <br />within these areas. <br />A summary of the rates charged for residential garbage collection in the two contract cities is provided in <br />Table 5-2. <br />Table 5-2. Table 5-3 demonstrates the change in distance for residents self-hauling to <br />the future Ellensburg Transfer Station. <br />Table 5-3.
