2020 Solid Waste and Moderate <br />Risk Waste Management Plan Update <br /> <br />AX0304191054PDX 8-3 <br />The Solid Waste Department is responsible for collecting the batteries from <br />these collection sites, storing, and labeling them for shipment to a treatment <br />storage and disposal firm contracted by the County. <br />Waste oil can be recycled at two self-serve recycling tanks: <br /> Solid Waste Department <br />925 Industrial Way Ellensburg, WA <br />Monday - Saturday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm <br /> Cle Elum Transfer Station <br />50 - #5 Mine Road Cle Elum, WA <br />Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm <br />8.2.2 Hazardous Waste <br />Businesses or institutions producing or accumulating hazardous waste above <br />the quantity exclusion limits are required to meet a stringent set of regulations <br />when storing, handling, and disposing of their hazardous wastes. In addition, <br />these fully regulated hazardous waste generators must comply with extensive <br />waste tracking and reporting requirements. Small- quantity generators must <br />meet certain requirements for identifying and managing their hazardous wastes <br />but are exempt from portions of the waste tracking and reporting requirements. <br />Within the County’s jurisdictions, certain zones are eligible for the management of hazardous waste. <br />Eligible zones and uses are as follows: <br /> Cle Elum <br />– Conditional Use in Industrial District (listed as chemical storage and treatment, not hazardous) <br /> Ellensburg <br />– Conditional Use in Tourist Commercial Zone (onsite storage and treatment) <br />– Conditional Use in Commercial Highway Zone (onsite storage and treatment) <br />– Conditional Use in Central Commercial (CBD) Zone (onsite storage and treatment) <br />– Conditional Use in Central Commercial 2 Zone (onsite storage and treatment) <br />– Conditional Use in Light Industrial Zone (onsite and offsite storage and treatment) <br />– Conditional Use in Heavy Industrial Zone (onsite and offsite storage and treatment) <br /> Kittitas <br />– Accessory Use in Industrial Zone (onsite storage, treatment, sales, and distribution) <br /> Roslyn <br />– None <br /> South Cle Elum <br />– None <br /> Unincorporated County <br />– Conditional Use in Light Industrial Zone <br />– Conditional Use in General Industrial Zone <br />8.2.2.1 Dangerous Waste Generators <br />Businesses in the County that have an EPA/State identification number issued under Chapter 173-303- <br />WAC, are included in Table 8-3.
