COMMISSIONERS’ MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />WEBEX <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />HR STUDY SESSION <br />responsibilities with the other deputies, or if the position would work in some other capacity. <br />Prosecutor Zempel responded that it would depend on what experience and skills the new deputy <br />would bring to the office. The Board approved the request and provided direction to move forward with <br />filling a fifth civil deputy prosecutor position. <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION – RCW 42.30.140(4)(b) THAT PORTION OF A MEETING DURING WHICH THE <br />GOVERNING BODY IS PLANNING OR ADOPTING THE STRATEGY OR POSITION TO BE TAKEN BY THE <br />GOVERNING BODY DURING THE COURSE OF ANY COLLECTIVE BARGAINING, PROFESSIONAL <br />NEGOTIATIONS, OR GRIEVANCE OR MEDIATION PROCEEDINGS, OR REVIEWING THE PROPOSALS <br />MADE IN THE NEGOTIATIONS OR PROCEEDINGS WHILE IN PROGRESS. <br />The Board entered executive session at 10:47 AM to discuss a union matter for an anticipated length of <br />five minutes. Anticipated action: letter approval. At 10:52 AM the Board extended executive session for <br />an additional five minutes. The Board exited executive session at 10:47 AM. Action taken: letter <br />approved for Board signature. <br />DISCUSSION – JUNETEENTH DAY, 2022 <br />HR Director Young summarized that the state legislature passed a measure making Juneteenth a legal <br />state holiday. She noted that the County’s unions will expect recognition of this holiday, and inquired if <br />the Board would like to make Juneteenth a County-wide paid holiday in 2022. The Board requested <br />time to think on it.
